Congratulations to all the winners at the January 2016 Asian Poker Classic I! Congratulations to Quincy Nguyen for winning the first event this year and his twenty-fourth title overall to start the thirteenth year of the Asian Poker Classic Tour. The tournament started out nice for Quincy when he doubled-up within the first orbit. However, the rest of the two-hour rebuy period did not go as well, as Quincy had to exercise several rebuys. The last fifteen minutes of the rebuy period was beneficial for him, as he clawed his way into the second chip lead at his table. After the dinner break, he stayed pretty steady and cruised to the final table, where it was just a roller coaster ride from there on out. With eight players left, Quincy faced a cooler holding kings vs. aces, so doubled up his opponent and cut his chip stack in half. He would not give up and clawed his way back into game. He would face another hit to chip stack and was once again was one of the short stacks. He continued to grind and made it in the money after Mario Navarrete busted out as the bubble boy. At this point Dave Sepulveda went on a hot streak and was the commanding chip leader. After Allison Bush got eliminated in fourth place, James Anderson and Quincy Nguyen looked like they were battling for second place. On a key hand, Quincy spiked a two-outter to hit a set on the river and doubled-up through Dave Sepulveda. James would be eliminated in third place, which left Quincy vs. Dave heads-up for the title. Quincy faced a 3-to-1 chip deficit, but was still determined to play it out. He quickly doubled up through Dave and now had a better chance at the title. The two would continue to play for another level when things turned. Quincy won a critical hand and had Dave down to 60k. The roller coaster ride continued for Quincy when he would double-up Dave on two separate occasions when he spiked a spade flush on the river - twice. Quincy now faced a slight deficit, but was still determined to win. He continued to grind away for the next fifteen minutes and would double-up though Dave once again. On the last hand of the tournament, Quincy flopped top pair and Dave flopped second pair. All the chips went in the middle and Quincy earned the title. With this win, Quincy Nguyen officially earns his seat to the coveted 2016 APC Tournament of Champions at the end of the year. Congratulations to Quincy Nguyen on a great, persevering victory!
